Placement Test Request Form

Complete this form to schedule a language placement test in Chinese, French, German, or Russian.  You may request multiple tests, but remember to allow sufficient time. Each test normally takes 20-30 minutes to complete, but you should allow an hour for each test in your schedule.

You do not need an appointment to take a placement test in Spanish.  The online Spanish placement test is now available from any computer with an internet connection.  All you need is a University of Richmond netID and password.  Complete instructions for taking the test, including a placement chart, are available in this handout.  Contact the Global Studio if you have any problems.

NOTE 1:  If you are an incoming student who plans to take the placement test during First-Year Student Orientation, you do not need to schedule an appointment. The placement test is given on a 'walk-in' basis several times during the Orientation period and the first week of fall classes. If you will be on campus during the summer and would like to take the test before orientation, use this form and note the dates you will be in Richmond.  Students planning to take Spanish in the fall semester should take the online test during the summer.

NOTE 2:  After fall orientation, the Russian placement test is given only when a member of the Russian faculty determines that there is a need.  Please indicate the name of the Russian faculty member with whom you have spoken under 'additional information'.
